  • Addict in the Family Online -a valuable resource document for health professionals, carers and families, Addict in the Family provides a practical, no nonsense guide to those grappling with drug use by a person whom they love.
  • Alcoholics Anonymous (Alcohol Only) -a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
  • Faces & Voices of Recovery - a national campaign of individuals and organizations joining together with a united voice to advocate for public action to deliver the power, possibility and proof of recovery.
  • Family Justice -a New York-based organization that works with families and neighborhoods to "break cycles of involvement with the criminal justice system."
  • Legal Action Center -a legal advice center for recovering drug addicts that lobbies on their behalf.
  • Moderation Management (Alcohol Only) -a behavioral change program and national support group network for people concerned about their drinking and who desire to make positive lifestyle changes. MM empowers individuals to accept personal responsibility for choosing and maintaining their own path, whether moderation or abstinence.
  • Narcotics Anonymous (NA) -a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. We meet regularly to help each other stay clean. We are not interested in what or how much you used, only in what you want to do about your problem and how we can help. 
  • Health.org -U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and SAMHSA's National Clearinghouse for Drug and Alcohol Information.
  • NotMyKid.org -a resource dedicated to raising awareness about the most prevalent youth and adolescent mental and behavioral health issues.
  • Phoenix House -a nation-wide, non-profit organization that provides drug and alcohol treatment and prevention programs. It has been deemed a "model program" by the Department of Justice.
  • PreventionWorks! -this harm reduction program works to provide needle exchange services in the District of Columbia.
  • The Association of Addiction Professionals -the largest membership organization serving addiction counselors, educators and other addiction-focused health care professionals, who specialize in addiction prevention, treatment and education.
  • SMART Recovery -offers free face-to-face and online mutual help groups. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviors, including: alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction, and addiction to other substances and activities. SMART is an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
  • Treatment Trends, Inc. -a non-profit organization that oversees numerous drug treatment programs. It also provides a newsletter three times a year. 
  • Join Together -a pioneer in using the Internet to support people working on substance abuse and gun violence issues.
  • Mothers Against Misuse and Abuse (MAMA) -formed in 1982 to address the multifacted issues of substance use, misuse and abuse. MAMA's approach is based on personal responsibility and informed decision making, with respect for human dignity.
