Position Description
The Criminal Justice Policy Foundation is seeking a Program Manager to work directly with the CJPF President.  This is an ideal position for a detail oriented person who wants to work with a high degree of independence in a small office for social justice.  CJPF is one of the nation's leading voices for drug policy and criminal justice policy reform, and collaborates closely with both movements. CJPF responds quickly to new events and frequently develops new projects. More information about CJPF's activities are posted on its website, www.cjpf.org.                            

Responsibilities
Administrative Duties

  1. Provide general administrative support to foundation president.
  2. Pay bills, record and deposit checks using QuickBooks online.
  3. Advertise for, hire, and manage foundation internship program.
  4. Update website.
  5. Manage computer systems, software and technical support.
  6. Develop and maintain necessary relationships with vendors.
  7. Make recommendations for administrative improvements.

Program Responsibilities

  1. Write miscellaneous correspondence.
  2. Manage the research, writing and production of the quarterly newsletter.
  3. Edit drafts written by foundation president.
  4. Provide research assistance to foundation president.
  5. Make recommendations concerning research and program activities.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 1 year work experience and Bachelor’s degree.
  2. High competence with Office programs, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  3. Experience with Dreamweaver and QuickBooks preferred.

Job Performance Criteria

  1. Work is performed promptly, intelligently, self-confidently, accurately and thoroughly.
  2. Writing demonstrates a high degree of English literacy.
  3. Projects are not undertaken until the employee understands the project's objectives. Projects are carried out with self-confidence and the ability to solve problems.
  4. Work, work environment, and use of time are very well organized and respond to priorities as they change.
  5. Employee develops and maintains familiarity with issues addressed by the foundation, with the clientele with whom the foundation works, and with the political environment in Washington and other relevant jurisdictions.

           
The ideal employee will learn rapidly, require minimal supervision, is self-directed, and demonstrates keen problem solving skills.  He or she has a high degree of curiosity, a passion for the mission of the organization, and an eagerness to serve and to learn. He or she is mature, professional and enthusiastic.

Salary: Mid-30’s, depending on experience
